Roca sanitary ware wants to lay off 1,990 workers for a year

The company has factories in Barcelona, Madrid and Sevilla, with the Barcelona plant set to be the most affected.

The Roca sanitary ware and ceramics group has applied to temporarily suspend 1,990 workers for a year.

All three of its centres in Gavà in Barcelona, Alcalá de Henares in Madrid, and Alcalá de Guadaira in Sevilla are affected and the company says it’s the best way for it to face the economic crisis which has hit it hard as a knock on from the halt in the construction sector.

Workers have already been demonstrating in Barcelona against the planned closures.
